Cricket legends swap bat for club for this year's Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship
Cricketing stars Steve Harmison MBE, Graeme Swann, Mark Ramprakash MBE, James Taylor and Mike Gatting OBE are among the celebrity names confirmed for this year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship.
Steve Harmison MBE is best known for being a member of England’s 2005 Ashes winning team. Representing his country on over 100 occasions the bowler also spent a successful 17 years playing for Durham.
Most recently found impressing on Strictly Come Dancing, Graeme Swann is a former England international cricketer who represented his country 178 times in all formats of the game. A former ECB Cricketer of the Year, Graeme also played for Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire at county level.
Mark Ramprakash MBE is another ex-England cricketer who is familiar with the Strictly Come Dancing stage, having won the show in 2006. A prolific batsman, Mark played for England for more than a decade as well as playing for Middlesex and Surrey in a professional career that spanned 25 years.
Former England, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor’s promising career was sadly cut short in 2016 after he was diagnosed with a serious heart condition. Despite this setback, he has carved out a successful career as a cricket commentator and was appointed an England team selector last year. James is no stranger to the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship having taken part in the event several times over the years.
Mike Gatting OBE is a former England captain who appeared 171 times for his country over the course of 17 years. In 1984 Mike was named ‘Wisden Cricketer of the Year’ and since retiring has held senior roles with former teams Middlesex and Marylebone Cricket Club.
