Sir Bobby Charlton
Sir Bobby is an English former professional football player who was a member of the England team who won the World Cup and was named the European Footballer of the Year in 1966. He played almost all of his club football at Manchester United, where he became renowned for his attacking instincts from midfield and his ferocious long-range shot. His former team-mate at United, Johnny Giles, describes Charlton as "the greatest player I ever played with or against".

Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson is the longest serving manager in the history of Manchester United and the most successful manager in the history of British football, winning more than 30 trophies during his 24 years in charge of the Red Devils. Ferguson has won many awards during his career and currently holds the record for winning 'Manager of the year' the most amount of times in the whole of British history.

Peter Shilton OBE
Peter is the most capped footballer of all time earning 125 caps for England during his incredibly successful career. Peter is widely celebrated for being one of the greatest England footballers and during his career he played for 11 English league clubs through which he accumulated a record 1005 League appearances.

Ron Atkinson
Former footballer and manager who is affectionately known as Big Ron. Ron played over 500 times for Oxford United during a successful 12 year playing stint for the club. His managing career is even more impressive though, with spells in charge of Manchester United, Athletico Madrid and Aston Villa to name but a few. Since retiring Ron has had a number of different jobs in TV and became one of the best known pundits in the football world.

Kriss Akabusi MBE
As one of the most instantly recognisable athletes of our time; Kriss has won three medals at the Summer Olympics and three World Championship medals between 1987 and 1991. He is a true English legend and is still working his charm whilst appearing on our screens in many prime time television programmes. |

Brian Close CBE
Former Somerset and England cricketer, Brian is still the youngest man ever to play Test cricket for England, joining the team at the tender age of 18. He went on to play 22 Test matches for England, captaining them seven times, winning six times and drawing once. Brian also captained Yorkshire to four county Championship titles and later went on to captain Somerset, where he is widely credited with turning the team into sporting greats.

Steve Cram MBE
A retired English athlete, Steve was one of the most dominant forces in the world in middle distance running throughout the 1980's. He was the first man to run 1500 metres in under 3 minutes and 30 seconds and also won six gold medals at major events, including one at the World Championships, two at the European Championships and three at the Commonwealth Games. Steve also won a silver at the 1984 Olympic Games. |

Frank Worthington
A former English footballer, Frank Worthington began his career playing for Huddersfield Town in 1966. Playing into his 40's, he made 757 English League appearances and scored 234 goals, playing for clubs such as Leicester City, Birmingham City and Leeds United to name but a few. Frank is best remembered for scoring one of the most remarkable goals English football has ever seen in a match between Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town in April 1979.

Clayton Blackmore
The Welsh International Footballer has the unique distinction of having worn every number from 2-11 for Manchester United. He made his debut aged 19 and played under the legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson. After helping Manchester United to win the FA Cup in 1990 he enjoyed spells at Middlesborough and Bristol City before going on to manage Bangor City and Porthmadog.

Derek Redmond
During his career, British athlete Derek Redmond held the British record for the 400 metres sprint and won gold medals in the 4x400 metres relay at the World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games. He is best remembered for his performance at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, where despite tearing his hamstring, he completed the final lap of the 400 metre semi-final with the assistance of his father and support of the crowd.

Peter Schmeichel MBE
Retired Danish professional footballer Peter Schmeichel MBE was voted the 'World's Best Goalkeeper' in 1992 and 1993. Famous for his intimidating physique, the 6ft 4in goalkeeper enjoyed many successful years at Manchester United, captaining them to UEFA Champions League victory in 1999 to complete the treble. Peter is also Denmark's most capped player, racking up 129 games for the national team between 1987 and 2001. |

Former Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer played 46 Tests for India and played first-class cricket for Mumbai and Lancashire. Farokh was India's first choice wicket-keeper for most of his 14 year international career and is now a match referee in the IPL.

Playing Ken since the first ever episode in December 1960, Bill holds the record for being the world's longest serving soap star and has recently celebrated 50 years in television, releasing his book '50 Years on the Street My Life with Ken Barlow', to commemorate the occasion. |

British actor and comedian Bobby Davro is widely known for his work as an impressionist. In the mid 80's he had his own TV shows; 'Bobby Davro on the Box' and 'Bobby Davro's TV Annual'. In 2007 he joined the cast of 'EastEnders' to play Vinnie Monks and has gone on to appear on 'Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway', 'Celebrity Come Dine with Me' and 'Dancing on Ice'. |

Bob Champion MBE
An English jump jockey, Bob Champion MBE won the 1981 Grand National on Aldanti, trained by Josh Gifford. The victory earned the team that year's BBC Sports Personality of the Year Team Award and in 2002 Channel 4 viewers voted the win one of the 100 greatest sporting moments. Bob retired from racing in 1983 having won some 500 races and his life story, portrayed in the 1981 book 'Champions Story: A great human triumph' was made into a feature film starring John Hurt.

Tony Currie
Former English footballer Tony Currie had significant spells for Sheffield United, Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers as well as representing England on 17 occasions. 'TC' as he was nicknamed was a hero to a generation of Sheffield United fans entertaining them with a repertoire of flamboyant skills, long-range passing and attacking verve. Currie was appointed Football in the Community coordinator at Sheffield United in February 1988, a post he still holds today.
